The body’s normal relaxation reaction is a powerful answer to stress. Relaxation exercises of yoga such as deep and calm breathing, visualization, muscle relaxation, and meditation can help one to start this relaxation response. The body and mind experience true relaxation when little or no energy is consumed. It is Nature's way of recharging. Since every action, conscious or unconscious, uses stored energy, relaxation is necessary for good health and peace of mind. Relaxation poses– It is essential to take time to execute relaxation poses at the end of every yoga practice session. One can utilise this time for relaxation of body and mind. Some relaxation poses are given below:
Counter poses – Counter pose is a yoga exercise that extends your spine in the reverse track from the earlier poses or returns your spine to an unbiased pose.
Twists – One can do twists to elongate and support back and abdominal muscles, raise the flexibility and elasticity of your spine and improve blood circulation. Twists recover the functioning of interior organs of body by providing them fresh supply of blood as you twist and free your body.
Balancing poses – Balancing poses are important for recovering your balance and synchronization as well as developing your skill to stay grounded in a pose. It also keeps your body balanced, promote you to focus, and calm and stable your mind.
Forward bends – Forward bends stretch body’s back portion, particularly your hamstrings. Forward bends is commonly used to release tension. It calms your mind and relieves your nervous system.
